Trade Memberships

Quinessence Aromatherapy were one of the founding members of the Aromatherapy Trade Council (ATC) thirteen years ago and we are still members today. One of the primary missions of the ATC was to raise the standards in safety and responsibility for manufacturers in the aromatherapy supply industry.

Along with other leading manufacturers, we have pledged a commitment to continue upholding the very highest standards of quality, safety and integrity of our aromatherapy products. This includes not only the safety of products but also their responsible marketing within our industry. Our ATC Membership License Number is ATC 001.

Animal welfare support

Quinessence are B.U.A.V. (British Union for the Abolition of Vivisection) approved manufacturers which means the entire Quinessence Aromatherapy Collection is manufactured without causing any cruelty to animals.

We have always believed it to be abhorrent to use animals to test the safety of cosmetic products. For these reasons we have also recently signed up to the recently formed European Coalition to End Animal Experiments (ECEAE).

More recently we have also begun to support 'People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals' (PETA), who have more than a million members and supporters and is the largest animal rights organization in the world. PETA focuses its attention on the four areas in which the largest numbers of animals suffer the most intensely for the longest periods of time: on factory farms, in laboratories, in the clothing trade, and in the entertainment industry.

PETA believes that animals have rights and deserve to have their best interests taken into consideration, regardless of whether they are useful to humans. We agree entirely and support them.

Professional aromatherapy associations

Key members of staff at Quinessence are fully qualified aromatherapists who are members of professional associations such as the International Federation of Professional Aromatherapists (IFPA) or the International Federation of Aromatherapists (IFA).

Company directors Sue Charles and Geoff Lyth are members of the English Société l'Institute Pierre Franchomme (ESIPF).
